In
1999 the Nechako Lodge adopted the Mentor Program, which is
based on the same program developed by Victoria Columbia Lodge
No. 1, in order to provide an organized approach to help men who
were expressed an interested in Masonry to make a decision as to
whether or not to become involved in Masonry, based on a clear
understanding of what was expected of a member. If after careful
consideration the decision were to join, then the Mentor Program
would become the basis of educating the new Mason on the Craft
and increase the retention of members.
Each individual is assigned a Mentor, whose responsibility is to
be the guide for the candidate and to be seeing the program
completed. The Mentor is not designed to replace the Member who
makes the proposal of your membership, but to be a resource and
friend.
The
Nechako Lodge Mentor Program incorporates the Grand Lodge of
British Columbia and Yukon’s Manual of Instruction and
Improvement which has been developed to cover the essential
information, which could help a new Mason, understand the main
aims and purposes of Freemasonry in this jurisdiction. The
Nechako Lodge’s Mentor Program is also approved and encouraged
by the Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon. Our Mentor
Program is split into five: Seeker, Candidate, Entered
Apprentice, Fellowcraft and Master Mason. Each package will be
presented after the completion of the degree. It is the wish of
the brethren of Nechako Lodge and of the great jurisdiction of
British Columbia and Yukon that members will gain firm
understanding of our fraternity as they go through the program.
It is hoped that it will spur you to study in dept the history,
philosophy, symbolism and eclecticism of Freemasonry
